Lunch at China House, Penang~

China House is situated at Penang island, a long building that has two entrances at opposite sides, one from Lebuh Pantai (Beach Street) and another from Lebuh Victoria (Victoria Street). China House has a unique cafe-style interior design, with a coffee bar by the entrance and a variety of cakes and pastries nicely arranged on a long wooden table. There are racks of books for customers to read, and an art gallery upstairs too. This place is well-known for their cakes and desserts, but this time we were there for lunch.

My table number. The tables are wrapped with mahjong paper, and crayons are provided for customers.

We ordered the set of the day, a "Bento Box Special", and the bestseller recommended by the house, Chicken and Mushroom Pie. The Bento Box consists of the Jamaican jerk spiced salmon, some rice and some side dishes. I'd like to highlight the chicken and mushroom pie here. The pie is rather big, about one and a half the size of an adult fist. The chicken and mushroom is wrapped in a nicely baked pastry, served with mashed potato and vegetable salad. The mashed potato isn't very salty, and the vegetable salad is dressed in lime juice. The whole dish comes with a small saucer with some kind of blended tomato, which is used to compliment the pie. Overall this is a very nice dish and I'd recommend it!! We ordered some coffee and cakes too~

Walnut Espresso

Orange Ginger Bread Squares with Cream Cheese Frosting

Apple, Rum, and Raisin

Salted Caramel Macadamia Brownie
The house is famous for their Tiramisu, but we decided to try other cakes. Overall China House is a nice place even for lunch. However, finding a parking lot was a problem as the parking lots available is quite scarce.
