The famous 叉烧杨 pork stall has moved to Jalan Pudu Ulu, Cheras. It is no longer a roadside stall at Peel Road, now it has its own clean, air-conditioned restaurant at Jalan Pudu Ulu~ Customers can now have their meals in a nice comfortable environment, with more tables and space to move around, as compared to the past when they were still operating by the roadside. More importantly, the quality of the food hasn't dropped a bit!! Due to their reputation and popularity, they are still putting "Peel Road" under their signage.

In the restaurant, clean and spacious~ |
Their 3 signature dishes are BBQ pork 叉烧 (char siew), Nyonya steamed fish, and Hakka braised pork 卤猪脚. Apart from these, they also sells roasted pork 烧肉, duck and chicken. Their char siew is a little different from the "usual" char siew, it doesn't have a thick BBQ gravy. It is more of a tender and soft texture, with a nice BBQ aroma, and the added texture from the soft fat layer~ On the other hand, the roasted pork has a very crispy skin, and a thinner fat layer so it doesn't feel fatty when eaten. As for the Nyonya steamed fish, they usually use Tilapia fish for that, not sure if they have other fish choices. It is really well steamed, in the sense that the flesh can be separated from the bones very easily!! The fish is a little spicy plus a little sour from the lime~ Overall these are the 3 dishes that I'd recommend!!

A mix of char siew and roasted pork (2 pax)~ RECOMMENDED!!! |

Nyonya steamed Tilapia fish~ RECOMMENDED!!! |
|
Nice and soft Hakka braised pork (1 pax)~ |
|
Stir fried yau mak (lettuce) (3 pax)~ |
The braised pork and yau mak is also very nice, although personally I think it's not really special. To accompany all these, we ordered cincau drink (grass jelly), which is very refreshing. One last thing worth mentioning is that they are selling at a rather cheap price!!! All these mentioned above is only priced at about RM70, with the steamed fish being the most pricey (RM26)!!! With all that said, this is definitely a recommended place for lunch~
Recommendation Summary:
Food
- BBQ pork 叉烧 (char siew)
- Roasted pork 烧肉
- Nyonya steamed fish
That's MY story, what's YOURS?
